After the 2016 film Pretham, Ranjith Sankar chose to team up again with Jayasurya. Sankar got the underlying thought of a film while he was flying out on prepare to Thiruvananthapuram, it was reported to be a continuation of their 2013 film Punyalan Agarbattis.
